Privacy Policy
Effective: August 2026
Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Gear Up ("we", "us") collects, uses and shares personal information when you visit trygearup.com or rent equipment from us.
Information we collect
Information you give us: your name, email address, phone number, trip dates, pickup preferences and any notes you send us. If you contact support, we keep that correspondence.
Payment information: payments are processed by our third-party payment provider. We receive confirmation of payment, the last four digits of the card, and billing details needed for tax and accounting. We do not store full card numbers.
Information collected automatically: pages viewed, referring page, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type. This is used to keep the site working and to understand which guides are useful.
How we use information
To take and fulfill rental reservations, process payments, communicate about pickup and return, provide customer support, prevent fraud and abuse, meet legal and tax obligations, and improve the site and our gear descriptions.
We send transactional emails about your rental. We only send marketing email if you opt in, and every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
How we share information
We share information with service providers who work on our behalf: our payment processor, email provider, and hosting and analytics providers. They may only use it to provide services to us.
We may disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or in connection with a merger or sale of the business. We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the site and checkout to function, plus limited analytics cookies to understand aggregate traffic. You can block cookies in your browser, though checkout may not work correctly without the necessary ones.
Data retention
We keep rental records for as long as needed to run the business and to meet tax, accounting and legal requirements — typically seven years. Support correspondence and analytics data are kept for shorter periods.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to object to certain processing, and to opt out of marketing. Email trygearup@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
California residents may exercise rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know and the right to delete. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Security
We use encryption in transit, restricted internal access, and reputable providers for payments and hosting. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will notify you as required by law.
Children
Our site and rentals are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided us information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy; the effective date below will change and material updates will be highlighted on the site. Questions: trygearup@gmail.com.
